Global Context
Education is where the whole world unites itself. Although it differs everywhere it is treated and viewed as creativity of the youthful mind or standardizing it to be prepared for life after school. It is clear education is very important but in the United States it varies due to states being able to pick what they want to be included in the curriculum. There is no set limitations to what can be included the public education systems. This is difficult to compare because each state has a different set up. Even though there is not a certain template there are particular things we all base our education systems on. The United States as a whole is in the habit of teaching as if it is still in the industrial revolution. Therefore the U.S has not realized we need to reform our education to this day in modern era. Reforming needs to happen because the system needs to understand that there are many ways students learn. If we want to see success we need attend to students in the ways they are able to comprehend the given information. In fact, in Finland the schooling system are the opposite of the U.S due to them viewing education less structured and base it on creating ones identity this has worked because Finland is a turnaround education system by seeing how the United States operates. The U.S embodies students to believe they have competed with other students to be the best and top student. When this is wrong because all children have different skills in all areas not just test scores. While Finland is having a higher rate of post secondary education plans because of the Finns seek students to be individuals. This plan and outlook that Finland has is the reason Finland has an all-time high 93% gradation rate that works every time according to research conducted at the University of California. If a U.S state has already conducted results of in fact this schooling system works it shocks me to see no outbreak of reformat within our own country has yet to happen. It may be due to the United States keep squeezing in more standardize tests each year for students to take on top of all the others. It is a battle between students and new standardize test that have been enforced. Taking more time away that teachers have to teach what is not only expected but having to use time that can be spent on revising lesson plans so that they can understand how these test work and how to prepare for them. As overwhelming as it seems the U.S uses tax dollars to create these tests using 666 million overall as a country per year that can be used elsewhere. Which makes no scene because that large chunk of change can be used on reformatting by providing more resources or updating schools with modern day technology to help assist students with learning disabilities rather than adding more test that already part take each year. While in Finland the only standardize test that happens is at the age of sixteen vs. the early U.S starting at third grade. The later we start the standardize test the more time on hand that can educate teach our youth of what makes education meaningful. Relieving test anxiety that begins at a early age to a more reasonable sixteen years that can take on a more stress and handle it easier. Although Finland is now a higher ranked schooling system it was at one point of time considered a disorganized and bad school system across the globe. For a Country to see that there education is not where it should be but more importantly where they it believe it can be to become a turnaround schooling system is unremarkable. Ultimately there is absolute no reason that that any school system including the United States of American can in fact change the way the education system is ran because Finland executed this by giving it the proper attention it needed to become a successful education system that is possible to create. |
