The field of psychology relates to social justice in so many ways. Social justice goes hand and hand with psychology because of the findings that have been found and understood. The way we determine if people have something wrong with them for example and how we execute the situation relates to what type of approach will we be taking why handling the issue. In particular we have learned that there are many people with learning disabilities and how we should perform with the person based on what they are diagnosed with.It only makes sense to because the individual with the hold back cannot process information the same as someone else so it is important that the person with the disability is being treated and taught respectfully because they are still viewed as a human being. This specially correlates with social justice because the way you would talk or teach someone with a disability differs from someone who does not. As well as how students learn. It has been found not everyone learns the same that is why there are many different approaches on how to teach certain students because we all learn different from one another. Understand all ways children learn makes it helpful for teachers to come up with activities and assignments asking students to perform certain skills that maybe be in or out of their comfort zone. But also to understand there are all sorts of ways to learn to push students to challenge themselves in order to grow as a scholar.
Taking this AP course we have learned that psychology is important to humanity because this class gives us a better perspective on why people are the way they are from the root causes to reflection on ones performance. This subject is vital to understand because it is from a critical perspective and none biased. Which is rather important because someone with a non bias perspective can really see both sides to all situations and evaluate. Psychology can be used to change the world because it is one of the classes and Advanced Placement courses that high school students can take advantage of preparing the future with more social workers, clinical Dr, and even researchers. Also, we have built upon theories and a lot of research findings that still apply in today’s society.
My major take a ways from this class was most definitely my perspective on how I view everything. Going in I already had a lot of interest in psychology because I always like to analyze to myself on what people act the way they do. What is the cause? Maybe there is possibly going on? Not to make up excuse for the behavior but to analyze and seek if there is any stressors that cause one to act a particular way. I have learned and began to understand that there are many injustices in the public education system but through psychological perspectives of being biased and prejudice on the capability of inner city and minorities students is what holds back people from finding out the facts.
